Hi Guys, I have a question in regards to Garmin. Is Garmin city navigator & Garmin mobile XT one & the same???

The reason for asking is, I have installed Garmin mobile xt on a no name brand gps unit running windows ce 6. I run Primo on it with com port one set up in system.ini. The only problem I have with Garmin mobile xt, I cant get it to see com port 1. So it cant find satellites. Information from around the net suggest using port splitter, However I tried to configure the com ports with port splitter, still no joy. Everything else appears to be working. I believe Garmin mobile xt should be run on a Iphone, which would explain the situation, or am I am I barking up the wrong tree.

Any help out there I would be grateful for. Garmin is sometimes problematic as far as COM port detection goes where other GPS programs have no problems at all. You will most probably need to get port splitter working to get it to recognize the GPS port correctly. If you delete any port splitter configuration file and run it you should be able to set it up to use COM port 1 and then pick an unused COM port to mirror it to. Once you have done that you should be able to get Garmin to recognize the pseudo COM port and it should work ok.

In the output window it only gives me the option of com 0, 6 & 7. No matter what I try. Which is the port configuration file???? Thanks for you help.

The only Garmin program ever made for WinCE is GarminXT. When GarminXT is not fully compatible with ones device, one should learn how to live with the flaws or loose his prejudices and use another program. The same story for TomTom where the combination WinCE6.0/TomTom is a pain in the.

Every copy of mobile xt must be activated. Maps are free, except for city navigator. GArmin mobile xt 5.0.20 has to be purchased and activated at a garmin center. Dont give me any of that garmin is giving mobile xt as a free app crap.

All garmin app comes free either with a nuvi pna or a nuvi phone. Without their device the only app available for wm is mobile xt WHICH IS A COMMERCIAL PRODUCT. So jj62mtp, get your facts straight. It is still 'WAREZ' when you are trying to rip it of like this.
